Cleaning Out Your Closet

A recent rise in temperatures has led to my annual Spring closet clean out. I don't know if it's the blooming flowers, sunny skies or the upcoming Spring Break, but springtime puts a little more pep  in my step and brighter smile on my face. It feels like a new beginning and with new beginnings, we must rid ourselves of the past (ie. declutter). Cleaning out my closet not only frees up space for things that I actually wear making it easier to get dressed each morning, but it also gets rid of unneeded stress. You know what they say, "Declutter your closet, declutter your life." ;-)

In this post, I will break the down the two steps needed for a successful closet clean out. This is part of my style series, so if you haven't checked out "Defining Your Personal Style" Part One: The Quiz and Part Two: The Results, I recommend reading those before you start the process of a closet cleanout. With your personal style more defined, you will be able to declutter your closet much more easily and efficiently.

Yay!

Defining Your Personal Style: Part 2

In the last post, we covered different ways on determining what your personal style is. We did this by listing our favorite fashion muses, our favorite shops/brands, looking at our Pinterest boards, and taking a style quiz. We also took a look in our closets, determined what styled worked for our lifestyle and what made us feel more like ourselves. Hopefully, through those exercises you have deciphered your style code. This post will help you further define your style by delving a bit deeper and giving examples. If you missed part one of this style series, you can find it here!

Defining Your Personal Style - Part 1

Get you pens and papers out! Today I am kicking off my new style series! In this series, I will show you how to: define your style, dress for your body type, mix prints, textures and colors, layer items, shop smart, organize your closet, incorporate trends and interesting elements, etc.

Defining your personal style can get a bit tricky. It can be difficult to pin point exactly what your style looks like, but doing so will save you a lot of confusion, money and time. I admit to buying things that I "like" but never actually wear. I think to myself that I could wear it here or there, but instead it ends up staying in my closet lonely and isolated. Why? Maybe the item doesn't align with my style as much as I thought I did. Maybe it doesn't go with anything else in my closet. Maybe I just like the idea of the style more than the item itself. There are countless reasons, but knowing what your style is will allow you to shop with purpose and save money in the long run.
