My name is Rachel and I blog over at Garay Treasures, and I am honored to be guest posting for Lizzie today. I am a fashion and lifestyle blog that mixes fashion, my daily life and my love for the Lord Jesus Christ. I blog because I have a passion to inspire and be inspired myself. Through my blog and meeting so many people who inspire me I have felt truly blessed. Lizzie has been one of those bloggers I turn to for style inspiration, collaborations and even just to chat. I thank Lizzie for having me today as I share with you how to dress up or dress down at t- shirt dress.
T-Shirt dresses are a new staple in my wardrobe and the one I am styling in particular today is one I tend to dress up, however I have found that it can be dressed down as well. For my first look you can see I dressed it up, using similar if not more vibrant colors. This particular dressed up look has gotten lots of compliments and has been featured in blog land a time or two. Dressing up a plain dress, especially a t-shirt dress can do wonders.
You can see I focused on statement accessories and vibrant colors to make the pastel pink color of the dress stand out even more. I am short (about 5'4) and I find that wearing heels not only makes me look taller but can really help with dressing up any look. Other ideas for dressing up a t- shirt dress:
- Wear a blazer, denim jacket or cardigan in a vibrant color/or patterned one even
- Layer on a pleated or tutu skirt
- Style hair (think dutch or fishtail braid), or floppy hats.
To challenge myself to dressing down the same t-shirt dress I focused on more casual pieces. In my mind I thought of staple summer pieces or vacation pieces and a straw hat and sandals came to mind.
My accessories are more toned down but comfortable and give the dress a leisure look. Other ideas for styling a t-shirt dress down:
- Style with converse shoes, gladiator shoes, flip flips or ankle booties
- Wear a chambray top or tie it around the waist.
- Denim vest layered over
- Straw or fedora hats
How do you dress up or down a shirt dress? Again, thank you Lizzie for having me by today, you can follow my blog the following ways: Facebook, Bloglovin, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. *
