Good morning all! It's Monday and I am definitely not ready for all the busyness.

Yesterday, my husband and I took a little road trip. We literally just got in the car and drove. We ended up in Tehachapi, a small mountain town to the east. We found a place to eat lunch and drove around bit to admire the beautiful scenery. We decided to go northeast from there and ended up in Red Rock Canyon State Park. We found a hiking trail off to the side of the road and continued our journey. Now I'm not a big fan of the desert, but it had such a unique beauty that was awe inspiring. Amazing rock formations of red, white and pink sprinkled with Joshua trees served as a great retreat from reality and a time of reflection. Sometimes being spontaneous and going somewhere without a plan brings about some of the best trips. Those are the ones I always remember.

Anyway, for this outfit I wanted to create something a bit more dressed up. Sequins and metallics dress up even the simplest outfits, but when paired together make a gorgeous combination. I got this skirt from Piperlime a while back (bye Piperlime :-( ). The second I put it on, I knew it would be perfect for a fancy night out. The skirt is a beautiful light gold color with metallic threading and small pleats. To heighten the sophistication, I paired it with a sequin top. Not just any sequin top though....a polka dot one! (You still gotta have some fun.) :-)  I threw on some black peep toe shoes that have a bit of metallic as well. Some say to go light on the jewelry when wearing sequins, but I'm a bit of a rebel so I did the opposite. Rules are for breaking, right? I toughened the look up a bit with a gold spiky necklace. Other accessories include gold bangles, a simple ring, a white coin purse and a sleek black bow. Some how a lot of look comes together comes together in a beautiful, simplified way.
