Last week, I was nominated for not one...but two Liebster Awards! A Liebster Award is used to recognize up and coming bloggers that don't have a large following yet and are working towards growing their readership and influence. What happens is...someone nominates you and give you 10 questions to answer so that others can get to know the person behind the blog. You, in turn, nominate a handful of bloggers that you want to recognize for their incredible content and give them a set of questions to answer. Needless to say I was very excited to receive such an honor.
Today, I will be answering questions from the first nomination. I was nominated by the wonderful Thrifty Minor! She had some of the sweetest things to say about my blog...it literally brought a tear to my eye. Your guys' supports means the world to me!
Along with my questions, I thought I would share some old and somewhat crazy pictures. (This is not part of the Liebster award...I just thought I would do it. :-) )
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What prompted you to start your blog?
First and foremost, I am obsessed with fashion. I have always wanted to be a fashion designer and I feel like this is a good first step into the industry. I actually started this blog many years ago. I was taking mirror pictures from my phone and although, my outfits weren't bad, the pictures were. I only lasted a few weeks. Since then, it has been something that has been bugging me. I wanted to wait until I was ready and I did a lot of research beforehand to ensure that this time I would be in it for the long run. When I started my first blog, I followed a bunch of others as well. I am still following them and am amazing at how far they have come. I am so excited for the future!
What is the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
Oh gosh! My whole life is full of adventure, but there are two instances that stand out in my mind. First, was when I went skydiving. It was a tip I received at my first job as a waitress. I have since been 6 more times. The second time was flying to Europe by myself on a German aircraft. Not one person spoke English on this 14 hour flight. It was my first time flying and also my first time being out of California.
Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?
Europe was amazing! I loved London and Paris...but especially loved Scotland! It is greenest green I have ever seen! My favorite local place is Lake Tahoe. It is insanely gorgeous!!
If you could do one thing tomorrow that you have always dreamed of doing, what would it be?
A cross country road trip. I would love to head to the east coast and see the amazing sights along the way. There is so much out there to see! I better get started.
If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would help out my mom and my husband's parents. I would buy a home and travel to somewhere amazing. I would start my design business and open a boutique. I would also donate to the homeless shelter because I have been there and it's a cause very close to my heart.
What is your favorite pastime memory?
As a kid, my neighbors and I would make up games. We would pretend, play dress up, make mud pies, and play hide and seek in the church. We go to the dollar store and buy mood lipstick. We would pick lemons from my tree and make "lemonade" to sell. Growing up, I didn't have a lot by society's standards, but I had an amazing childhood that I would not trade for anything.
What is one goal that you have not yet met, but are working to achieve?
Up until now I have hand sewn everything, but I decided that this summer I will be learning to use my sewing machine. It's such a small thing for some, but a big step for me since I see a future in this industry.
What do you believe is the greatest flaw among people?
Being real. I come across of people that aren't genuine, especially ladies. Sometimes it's very hard to find friends that understand you and that have your best interest in mind. It's hard to find someone honest, trustworthy, unselfish and caring. I dream of having a friendship like that one day.
If you only had time to save one thing in your home, what would it be?
Since I can't take my closet with me....haha! Of course, I would save my husband! I would also make sure to grab my guitar. <3
In your life, what brings you the most happiness?
So many things. Being with my husband. Having quiet time. Going for a drive. Baking cupcakes. Smelling flowers. Hiking and yoga. Reading. Playing music. Making art.
